Personality: From her earliest days, Selene always possessed an inquisitive nature and it was forever encouraged in her. Her mind is quick and she is just as quick to use it. However in her youth such behavior for a girl was frowned upon almost entirely, making Selene more rebellious than most, but never without a purpose. That remains to this day. She possesses a quiet demeanor, never loud or obnoxious, but her every action is laced with a quiet confidence. With that confidence and rebelliousness is a sense of determination to gain what she desires. Determination that can result in manipulation. Through it all though she is a caring person, often seeking to help where others weren't. Even if not always through the most ethical means. She understands the moral implications of the powers she possesses but often feels that reality intrudes upon the strict bounds of professional ethic.

Personal Background:
Selene was the youngest, born as her mother lost her life in the process of bringing her forth. Two older brothers and a father welcomed her into the world instead. It was an unusual family for the time. In a city known for it's wealth and prosperity in trade, her father was an intellectual. His older brother continuing the family's trade while Frederick explored the powers of the mind. Something he'd tried to pass on to his sons... but to no success.

His daughter proved to be just the child he was looking for. Named for a Greek goddess, one of his favorite subjects of study, he instilled his love of knowledge in his daughter. Selene grew up far different than the other females around her and consequently did not find a suitable husband as women were supposed to. It never bothered Selene, her differences from the girls around her. She was beautiful and had many offers until she opened her mouth and spoke of things that girls just shouldn't know. And Selene was quite content with it that way. The last thing she wanted was a man who would take the very things she loved away from her.

She grew into a spinster, staying with her father. Attending university classes as her father's aide as he taught. Her desire for more freedom to learn what she wanted grew and against her father's wishes she began sneaking into lectures. Day, night. It mattered not to her just the topics taught. This was the first that her father had balked at. Not wanting his daughter traversing the streets at night. And it was just the sort of fears he had that led to Selene's meeting of a man named Cassius.

The first that hadn't seemed put off by her intelligence. Quite the contrary he encouraged it. She continued to meet him clandestinely, learning about things, history, the mind, politics, that she'd never known about. The man seemed to have an endless supply of knowledge and experience. She went early to meet him one night, not finding him continued to search until she found him... bent over a woman in an alley. Her presence caused him to drop the woman and Selene came to understand his true nature. Terrifying and intriguing. He said he'd been waiting until he thought her ready. Thought her truly a worthy match for him... and she was. She balked at the idea of following him down an unknown path. A vampire... he showed her the benefits and as always the intrigue of it all won. Forever able to learn... forever able to be what she wanted and not to be bound by the structures of society as she knew it now.

Her choice was made.

She saw little of her family from that day on, her father dying within years. Selene was content to traverse the globe at Cassius' side. In love with his mind and all that he could offer. As the centuries went on, he taught her much, including how to control the powers he imparted to her. How to use them for both good and bad. Coming to understand the intricacies of her empathic and telepathic abilities, drew her to the study of the mind.

Following it's every development from the words of Sigmund Freud to the development of electroshock therapy. As the years went on and formal opportunities opened to her she obtained degrees in psychology, the topic that had never ceased to intrigue her, forever changing. Happy and content with the man she'd loved for over 200 years and her mind never dulled by boredom

But all good things come to an end. And such was the case for her life with Cassius. He was old and powerful but with such power came greed, something she'd seen develop over the years in him. Despite her counsel her pushed for more and in the process challenged the wrong group of demons. She'd been out of town, a conference in Prague. She returned to Berlin where they'd always come home to after their travels and found destruction. Cassius gone.

Years went by with no word... and Selene slowly started to pick up the pieces that were left. She left Berlin, unable to stomach the memories and left Germany. She found a small flat of her own in London and set up a small practice. Odd perhaps, but she found ways of ensuring that no one knew of her true nature but those efforts were often for naught. She ended up developing a specialized clientle. Often supernaturals themselves. Some learning to deal with the fact themselves, some not even knowing that was what they were, others who were just referred to by word of mouth. Eventually she became the source where the courts sent defendants with cases that were just unexplainable. Through such word of mouth she learned of Halcyon and began referring teenagers and others new to their powers there.

It was finally after years of living in London that she felt the itch again, the urge to travel and move as she had so often with Cassius. She took an offer for a job at the school. Counselor and teacher. Something new.
